Marcy Rheintgen, a 20-year-old transgender college student, was arrested at the Florida State Capitol after intentionally entering a women’s restroom in protest of the state’s transgender bathroom law.
Civil rights lawyers say it is the first known arrest under such laws in any U.S. state.
Rheintgen faces a misdemeanor trespassing charge and could face up to 60 days in jail.
Florida is one of only two states to criminalize such acts.
She shouldn’t have to, and I hope she is safe, but I also wouldn’t underestimate what Marcy is capable of surviving. But, Imagine all the good she would be bringing into the world if we didn’t force her to spend her time doing this.
Considering how air headed her statements are, if she’s not in solitary during that time she’s not going to be ok 😒
Florida will make an example of her, and they’re going to dead name and parade her around like they’re doing their evil god’s work.
