The guy didn’t care when Americans were dying during the pandemic. Said, “it is what it is.” What do you expect from this filth of a president.

Apparently there are lovey-dovey words coming out of Russia too, which has apparently pulled a rapid 180 and decided that the EU is the bad guy.

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/06/europe/kremlin-trump-analysis-propaganda-ukraine-latam-intl/index.html

Across state-controlled Russian media, disparaging references to “the collective West” and “Anglo-Saxons” – thinly-veiled diplomatic code for US-led states – have been quietly dropped. Instead, it’s just what the Kremlin calls “the old world” of Europe, without its US partner, being singled out for criticism.

Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg delivers keynote address on “the current state of the war in Ukraine and how the war might end,” on Thursday, March 6.

Related article Trump’s Ukraine envoy says Kyiv brought the pause in US intelligence sharing ‘on themselves’

But “if we simplify it, everything now is decided by the great troika - Russia, China and US - that will form the new structure of the world. The European Union as a single political force no longer exists,” he adds.

In Russia, the heavily-controlled media reflects the mood of the Kremlin, as do the words of Russian officials now driving home US-European divisions while flip-flopping on Washington’s historical record.

“I do not want to be anti-European,” claimed Sergey Lavrov, the veteran Russian foreign minister. “However…. all the tragedies of the world originated in Europe or happened thanks to European policy. Colonization, wars, crusaders, the Crimean War, Napoleon, World War One, Adolf Hitler. If we look at history in retrospect, the Americans did not play any instigating or even inflammatory role,” he insisted in an interview posted on the official foreign ministry website.

What anybody else would do after Ukraine had the rug pulled out from under it by a former ally, sure.

You did this. You want this.

I love how they screeched about deep state shit for years and now that we have a shadow government operating in plain sight, they’re completely fine with it.

Also, if the “deep state” existed like they imagined it does, Bronzo would be sidelined one way or another by now.

Agreed. I think “deep state”, to the teabagger nutjobs, meant something like the way they talk about “DEI”. They were butthurt that government appeared to support some nefarious liberal conspiracy or something - like recognizing that gays exist or that trans exist, or that POC exist, etc.

They just lazily appropriated the accurate use of the phrase from the left (just like they did for “fake news” - they’ve been hearing that about their outlets since the 90s, and much like that dipshit that wrote that dumb book entitled, no joke, “Liberal Fascism”, they just did a “no, you” on it. The right is nothing if not intellectually lazy, even if we are talking about their elitist thought leaders.) and perverted it.

The left was rightly talking about things like COINTELPRO, MKULTRA, Operation Ajax, five eyes, Iran/Contra and CIA plots to run crack cocaine into our cities. The right appropriated that, and entirely w/o any evidence, turned it into complete crazypants bullshit. It turns out that there really ARE conspiracies and you don’t have to just concoct bullshit. It turns out that the “deep state” was always aligned with the right - small wonder; why the dipsticks on the right cannot see that is probably because they always, always, always have to live in a fictional universe where they are the aggrieved victim of some leftist globalist plot.

Attacking a sovereign nation because you want to own them is what anyone else would do? That’s kind of fucking terrifying from my Canadian p perspective.

Trump isn’t referring to the invasion itself, but Russia attacking now that US decreased its support.

He’s not wrong here, was anyone expecting Russia to go “Welp, now that the US isn’t sharing intelligence with Ukraine, we better surrender”.

Then again, maybe they’ll do better now that the US isn’t telling them to use NATO tactics or lower their draft age again.

He didn’t say that. He said anybody would act like Russia.

He’s still got it wrong. He always gets it wrong.

Is the first sentence of the article incorrect?

President Donald Trump expressed understanding Friday for Russia’s stepped-up attacks on Ukraine after the White House halted military and intelligence aid

Is it relevant??? And, no, the summary sounds like bullshit with a coat of gold paint.

But, seriously - who the fuck cares what specific words are included in an article summary?? It makes no difference.

Yes, it makes a difference if Trump was saying anybody would “act like Russia”, whatever that means vs anybody would continue attacks after Ukraine’s main supporter pulls back.
