As the Trump administration weaponizes accusations of antisemitism to justify repression, the Jewish left is rising up.
Great that the Jewish communities are speaking up against Trump using them as a reason to deport people… Great.
But where were all the jewish communities’ demonstrations about the actions of Israels government in their name?
I know a lot of Jewish people do not support them. But by not speaking up, they are allowing it to keep happening.
They have been. Jewish voice for peace has been protesting Israel since before most people have been born, and most Orthodox Jews have always protested zionism, since it’s an anti Jewish religion.
Could more protest? Sure, but that’s true of any group. Why did Americans protest American border policy for under trump but not Obama or biden.
Because Americans don’t care about people, they just play politics like its a team sport.
Whenever Democrats are in power, the left gets lazy. Even though that is when they could actually press their issues through.
And the republicans are racists, they would never protest such a thing lol.
Protests against the ongoing genocide of Palestinians were happening under Biden and they were crushed and with very few exceptions given no support by the Democrats. They paved the way for the Trump admins actions against Khalil and others. Unquestioning support for Israel even against our own citizens is a bipartisan position in the United States.
Its not really useful to think of the Democrats as “the left.” The left has no institutional power in the United States and is suppressed/coopted by both of the political parties.
The Jewish community has been speaking up. The problem is that the global Jewish community doesn’t actually control the Israeli government, so there’s only so much that speaking up can do. Also, the population of Israel tend to see things quite differently from American Jews. It’s very unfortunate that Jews in Israel do seem to have forgotten the Holocaust…
everywhere I’ve looked there were Jewish protesting, doing encampments, taking non stop against this.
still plenty of Israelis or zionist being full fash about it, but they should be ignored and let history leave them being and hopefully, they’ll get to live in a world that detests them
