Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employees who accepted the Trump administration's buyout and opted for deferred resignation have been asked by their employers to continue working for a few months due to the "essential" nature of their jobs.

    2. Unofficially get offered 8 months severance
    3. Be told you’re “essential” and need to stay
    4. Leave before time and get nothing
    5. Get your resignation accepted whenever your superiors see fit
    6. Leave with nothing because severance was not officially approved
