Same! Though, I really wish monowires existed in real life.

Monofilament wire is a real thing, it just doesn’t have the tensile strength to act like it does in fiction.

Be that as it may, I meant it doesn’t exist as it does in the game. It stands as my absolute favorite thing in CP 2077. It is- by far, the most elegant way to turn one big one into several little ones.

        😀

(I’ve run a few monowire/knife only builds with no combat quickhacks. Probably the most fun I’ve had in the game)

If you like Mono-filiment whips you should read the Paratwa trilogy by Chrisopher Hinz… it’s about assassins that have 1 mind in 2 bodies, thus more eyes and coordination skills. They train from early childhood to use these Black eggs that extrude a monofilament whip… it take years to control them so they don’t whip about and cut yourself to pieces.

Added to the list. Thanks! I love book suggestions.

Burning Chrome is normally published as a collection of a few short stories (burning chrome is one story in the collection). There is an assassin that uses monofillimant wire somewhere in one of the stories.

William Gibson, who coined the term “cyberspace” in Burning Chrome, is generally regarded as the pioneer of cyberpunk

Awesome! I hadn’t know that. Relatively new to the cyberpunk mythos. Haven’t even seen the Edgerunner series yet as I’m not that into anime. But so far I’m really liking the game.

Not much of a gun person at all, so that’s why I went with the monowire and a knife as a sidearm. Doing a pacifist run as a nomad. Pretty happy with it thus far as I’ve managed to get though the entirety of act 1 without killing anyone. Even during the heist. And only knocked out a small handful of people that were absolutely necessary in order to get by.

I think during The Heist, I managed to get though it without knocking out a single person. Just sneaking past. Then I got my monowire at level 10 at the beginning of Act II.

So far I have done 5 of the gigs in Watson without killing or knocking out anyone, including Monster Hunt. Went in, extracted Jotero, and got out. No desths- unnoticed.

(Apologies for the infodump- I’m AuADHD and had coffee with my Vyvanse this morning)

By far my favourite time killer in cyberpunk is to use the monowire to control NPC cars like a chariot, stand on the roof and hit one side and the NPC turns the other way
