I’m with ya buddy. There isn’t a single thing I can do, no number of petitions I can sign, that will change a dam thing. No company loses profits to be good for the planet, they only ever do it because they are forced/regulated to. So I vote Green.
I also try to avoid buying shit that just ends up in a landfill, repair/re-use as much as I can.
But it doesn’t matter, we’re fucked anyway. At least I won’t have any guilt. In the meantime I’m going to mountain bike as much as possible before the collapse.
The only guarantee of failure is not to try.
I get the sentiment, but why not stand up and fight? Why not make this about saving the planet, because it really is.
I’d be all for an uprising, if only it was as uncomplicated and low risk as video games and movies have demonstrated.

You know, instead of preaching these infantile ideals in how to really make change. I’m more ready for individuals who actually have a more thought-out plan in how to achieve what we need to do.
And so far, yet, I’ve not seen anyone really do it and I’d be including myself before anyone makes that jab later. It’s just very tiring to see people rush to social media and think that their posts will be heard or read that’ll make some significant impact. When, there’s absolutely no organizational structure in place or any motives in how to go about the things we all keep daydreaming of happening.
Guess it’s too easy to daydream than get off of our asses and make the sacrifices required to make change. Not if we have to miss another minute of being online in a boring dystopia that is what the internet has become to all piss our time away looking at memes and making memes.

I just want to say good on you for doing your part. And I also want to say that I don’t think the majority support extremes, I think it’s just that the extremists are SO much louder and so it’s all we hear. I think the majority are like you and me and just want someone reasonable to lead the country. Just keep voting, I know it feels like it doesn’t do anything but it’s our main way to really speak and it does matter.
Side bar, if you’re a student it most likely means that you’re a lot younger than me and it makes me so sad that this is how you’ve had to see and live the world. No pressure but if you are younger the future is truly in your hands.

But the article is still not news - new information - per se. It’s an opinionated presentation of the news. I don’t disagree with the opinion, I’d just like to see a separation of communities for news and for current event discussion with a focus on articles like this, less so news articles.
All these first-past-the-post voting systems (here in Canada too it’s a problem) need to be relegated to a bygone era, it’s so bad that even placings names on a board and throwing darts blindfolded for every MP positions would probably give a better and more representative outcome.
Welp… it will probably be after something akin to world war 3 that we (the ones luckily still alive) would all sit down and set out to fix the many obvious and perhaps not so obvious issues with governance, lack of immediate consequence to lying, independently peer reviewed education system absent of political/religious/vested/private interest or influence, broken taxation system enabling billionaires, the lack of thorough independent study of environmental or health concerns before even granting any permit (problems tend to always be discovered long after it was commercialised/contructed/).
Sad to see the state of affairs in every country 😰😱, nevertheless just as we can see/imagine/iterate/improve our ideas of what each one of us would consider better systems, we should implement, test, cross pollinate, evaluate (scientifically, quantitatively and qualitatively) and keep what works better than before and reject/shun/disqualify what obviously causes issues or collateral damages.

The US government is a major factor in determining what gets done about global warming. If the USA gets locked into antidemocratic fascism and climate change denial it will exacerbate global warming everywhere. That’s what the Republicans promise.

Has anybody read the list of indictments just on the federal documents case? It is not going to end well for him, most likely:
31 counts of retaining and failing to deliver national defense documents under the Espionage Act. Each of these charges is for possession of a separate, specific document. Ten of these documents were handed over to the government in June 2022, and the other 21 were recovered in the August 2022 search.[30]
According to the indictment, the 31 documents describe:
- U.S. nuclear weapons;
- foreign military attacks, plans, capabilities, and effects on U.S. interests;
- foreign nuclear capabilities;
- foreign support for terrorist activity;
- communications with foreign leaders;
- U.S. military activities;
- White House daily foreign intelligence briefings;
- potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack;
- and plans for possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack.[31]
He is a traitor through and through, and this is going to make his life painful next year.
