Maybe it has something to do with the Ukrainian neo-nazi dictator supporting literal zionist terrorists who attack the UN.

The Jewish neo-nazi? Why don’t you just post with your hexbear or lemmygrad account so those who have defederated with your unhinged bullshit don’t have to waste time reading it?

It’s refreshing to see a western country say no to bullshit for once. There are lines that when crossed should have consequences.

I guess he picked a side.

When is his term as secretary general up?

Strictly speaking there aren’t term limits for the UN Secretary General. By convention it’s five years per term, two terms max. Guterres is currently three years into his second term.

Honestly though I’m not sure that him attending the BRICS thing is a bad move. Surely his job is to try to foster discussion across hostile lines? I don’t know what his actual conduct at the conference was, but I can definitely imagine that an attempt to push for peace is within plausibility

It would’ve been nice if he didn’t just show up under the radar and actually officially stated he was going with what intentions like every other visit.

Admit you have no idea what you’re talking about earlier next time

The UN is a diplomatic institution. It is vital and by design that they talk with everyone. China and Russia are two of the UN Security Council veto powers. Calling the Secretary General a “dipshit” for doing his job is like calling a Judge a dipshit for throwing out illegally obtained evidence.

He should certainly talk to everyone. But kissing Putin’s ass the way he did was absolutely not necessary.

There is a difference between keeping diplomatic channels open and actively legitimising Putin’s régime by visiting Russia to attend a summit.

The Secretary-general of the UN visiting a country whose leader has a warrant out for his arrest certainly doesn’t send any sort of message, like that money talks.

The Secretary General has little to do with the ICC. Enforcement of UN rules is done by its members. Turns out veto powers being able to veto protects them from a lot of accountability.
